Vampire Academy, Frostbite, Shadow Kissed and Blood Promise tell Rose Hathaway's story as she becomes a guardian of the last Dragomir vampire of royal blood.
I have enjoyed this series because Mead creates a whole new world by expanding the usual vampire mythology to include guardians and Strigoi -- enemies of the vampires. Additionnally, Mead craftfully introduces a large number of well-rounded characters of varying ages, takes us to a number of different settings and uses the protagonist's telepathic abilities to further parallel plot lines.
This is a fun and well written series.
